March 2022 marks the two-year anniversary of widespread COVID-related lockdowns in the United States and the beginning of an unprecedented policy response. Two years in, as the pandemic lingers, some parts of the economy are straining against strong demand while other parts of the economy are still languishing.
On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, The Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution hosted a webcast that took stock of the state of the economy, the state of public health, and the relationship between the two. The webcast included a welcome and introductions from Hamilton Project Director Wendy Edelberg and a fireside chat between Mary C. Daly, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and Peter Orszag, CEO of financial advisory at Lazard Freres & Co. LLC.
The webcast event coincided with the release of a Hamilton Project economic analysis of household balance sheets.
